G’Bye Dubai

Dubai had a very uncharacteristic feel to it.. A unusually secluded place, you don’t see many people about, except for those working on the infinite constructions going on. We had an entire stretch of beach to our selves which we found most surprising.

They’re all tucked away in the grand shopping malls they have here.. If shopping’s your thing - you’ll love it here!
The famous 7 star Burj Al Arab, was picturesque, along with many of Dubai’s buildings, the airport is fantastic.. It has palm trees in it -

Memorable Moment!

We were sitting in a local park where parents brought their children to ride their bikes & play with other kids. (No we are not getting broody!!) Our attention was drawn to a small group of children were screaming & shouting at this stray cat who appeared completely apathetic of the abuse.. even tho they were close up to this cats face for a mere reaction from it. This continued for a few moments longer, when the cat didnt flinch at all. One of the boys ran up to it, and kicked it up into the air, it landed back on its feet not knowing what had just hit it (may have lost a life in the process) & then ran as fast as you would have ever seen a cat run.

Feeling Light Fingers - you wouldn't dare!

At one point in the day even the shop owners leave the malls to go for prayer. A lot of places leave their products out on display. However nobody steals anything, as the penalty for stealing is cutting off of thieves hands.

Where is everyone?

Ok so the malls were freaky but now we have visited the beach (and this is the main beach, which is 1st class) yet again nobody here. Where are all the people in Dubai? Maybe they are all off building more shiny new structures, in hope that more people will move there to fill them.

Mall of the Damned!

Travelling around Dubai you find that they have fantastic buildings everywhere. They have built loads of beautifully spangley shopping malls, that contain all kinds of brands that we have back home. In fact they have pretty much everything. That is except for the people. Each mall that we went into, no matter which day, we would be two of a very small handful of people in there. It was quite creepy.

Resort Crashing

Here we are at the Jumeriah Beach Hotel which we decided to crash, complete with its private beach and poolside huts. As we were sitting sipping on our drinks in the lap of luxury, a guard walked over and started quizzing a bunch of kids in the resort, asking them if they were staying there and what room. We sat at the poolside with disapproving looks on our faces, as if we were staying there ourselves. Shame on those bad children coming into the resort and using their facilities.

Mini Model of Dubai City

This notable contribution of the city displayed in yet another stunning shopping mall was pretty impressive - you have to really admire the detail, right down to little people models. (Tho there were no where near that amount of people on the actual beach)

McDONALDS MENU - DUBAI

Trying to break ourselves in slowly as far as food is concerned. We still land on McDonalds occasionally for some good old fast food.
The addition in Dubai was a Chicken Big Mac, (Paul gave it shot & was quite taken by it).

Kickstarting the Hunnymoon in Dubai

This place is like a space station. Really well developed and modern. It also has a few touches of nature with some palm trees growing indoors. Feeling great about kicking off our hunnymoon. Not five minutes since we have arrived here and we are already doing the tourist thing by checking out duty free on all the electricals. Airport Duty Free aren’t what it’s cracked up to be.
